Description	:	MILO - Richard D. Mayo, of Milo, died March 27, 2014, at the age of 85. "Bud" was born Sept. 27, 1928, in Milo. He was the son of Mary and Vernie Mayo, one of 12 children born to them. He grew up in Milo and graduated from Milo High School, class of 1946. After high school, he worked for the railroad for a while but for the next 40 years, he was a lumberman in the Milo area. He grew up in Milo and graduated from Milo High School, class of 1946. After high school, he worked for the railroad for a while but for the next 40 years, he was a lumberman in the Milo area. In 1989, he moved to Massachusetts and worked as a caretaker for Francis Sargent, the former Governor of Massachusetts, for several years. He moved back to Milo in 1998, and remained there in his retirement years. Richard's most important work was being one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was baptized on July 17, 1948, in Providence, R.I., and he went on to faithfully serve until his death. He had the privilege of helping many see the positive hope from the Bible and what God's Kingdom will truly do for mankind. Dad was especially known for his ability to build and fix almost anything from snowmobiles to building a Ferris wheel and a zip line ride across the yard, as well as numerous other rides. He had an amazing imagination. He was married Oct. 1, 1950, to Beryl Getchell. They became parents to five children, Valerie, Michael, Alan, Joel, and Laura. Mom passed away July 5, 1983, after 33 years of marriage. In 1984, Richard married Regina Mayo and they enjoyed 30 years together. Richard is survived by his wife, Gina; as well as daughter, Valerie Ogden and her husband, Larry, of Milo; sons, Michael and his wife, Linda, of Sebago, Alan and his wife, Karen, of Cape Coral, Fla., and Joel and his wife, Petra, of Johns Island, S.C.; stepson, Malcom Tanguay and his fiancée, Courtney, of Connecticut; grandchildren, Jordan, Megan, Amy, Lisa, and Pam; also great-grandchildren, India, Willow, Sydney, and Cyprus. In addition, he is survived by brothers, Murray and Irving; and sisters, Beatrice Phillips and Jean Lee; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to Beryl, Richard was predeceased by daughter, Laura; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Mayo; and sisters, Violet Richards, Elsie Mayo, Barbara Curtis, and Edith Mayo; and brothers, George, Leon, and Gordon. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks with deep appreciation to so many from the Milo congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and all who so kindly waited on both dad and Gina in many ways over the past couple of years as well as hospice care. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at the Milo Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Dover Road, Milo. Published in BDN Maine from Mar. 29 to Mar. 31, 2014
