Graveside/military rights will be at the Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg on April 17, 2010, at 1 p.m. Richard Eber Hoover was born in New Sharon, Iowa, on March 12, 1930. He was the son of Eber Hoover and Elsie Mae (Ackles) Hoover. Richard served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1951 during the Korean War conflict. Read More	Richard Eber Hoover, 80, of Kellogg, Iowa, died at the Iowa Veterans Home on March 27, 2010. Graveside/military rights will be at the Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg on April 17, 2010, at 1 p.m. Richard Eber Hoover was born in New Sharon, Iowa, on March 12, 1930. He was the son of Eber Hoover and Elsie Mae (Ackles) Hoover. Richard served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1951 during the Korean War conflict. He served in the Medics and was honorably discharged. He was married to Shirley A. Bogue from 1952 to 1967. Together they had two girls, Peggy J. Hoover (husband John Bestell) and Debra A. Hoover (Stacey). He was employed 25 years with the former Maytag Co. and worked for the Carlson Construction Co. and also with his brother at H&L Pallet Co before retiring and residing in Kellogg. He enjoyed taking drives to look at the countryside, nature, fishing, baseball and family gatherings. He loved all his family dearly and in return we all loved him too, and he will be missed. He is survived by his grandchildren, Tammy Bestell of Newton, Robby Bestell of Kellogg, JR Bestell of Newton, Mike Hoover of Newton, Shannon Kotz of Newton and Jamie Stacey of Kellogg; his great-grandchildren, Brooke Bestell, Anthony Bestell, Alyssa Bestell and Vinny Kotz of Newton; his brothers, Donald Hoover of Muscatine, Iowa, Cyril Hoover of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Charles Hoover of What Cheer, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Hoover; an infant great-granddaughter, Kally Bestell; his sisters, Zola Ball and Helen Hoover; and his brothers, Rex Hoover and Max Hoover.
