Engle, died Monday, November 6th, of typhoid fever, at the home of his parents in Independence, Missouri. Funeral services were held there Tuesday, Rev. Miles Easter officiating, after which the remains were shipped to this place for burial in the Prairie Center cemetery. Deceased was born on a farm northeast of Burlingame May 30th, 1880, and resided there until about two years ago when he moved with his parents to Independence. THE OSAGE COUNTY CHRONICLE (Burlingame, Kansas) - Wed - 08 Nov 1899 Dick Engle died in Independence, Missouri, on Monday afternoon of typhoid pneumonia after a sickness of about thirty-five days. The remains were brought here and will be interred in the Prairie Center cemetery this afternoon. Dick was a very promising young man of 19 years. His taking off in the prime of young manhood is sad indeed. He lived north of town for a number of years with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Engle, and there made many friends who are grieved by his untimely death. The mourning ones have the sympathy of all.
