Read More	OBITUARY THE OSCEOLA SENTINEL-TRIBUNE Osceola, Iowa Thursday, May 4, 2006 RICHARD "DICK" GARNER Richard Glen "Dick" Garner, son of Teresa Agnes Cronin Garner and Glen William Garner, was born March 27, 1932, at Jamison and died April 28, 2006, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. He was 74. He received his education in the Jamison Schools and went on to graduate from Osceola High School. He married Marilyn Jean Stills on May 23, 1961, at Unionville, Mo. They were the parents of four sons, Mike, Steve, Doug and David. Mr. Garner, a veteran of the Korean War, served with the U. S. Army. When he returned home he began farming and in the 1970s he started his own welding shop. He has resided in Clarke County except for a short time when he lived in New Virginia. He was a member of the Herndon-Oehlert American Legion Post 157 at Woodburn, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 3495 at Osceola and the South Central Iowa Fox and Wolf Hunters Association. He enjoyed his hounds, coyote hunting, raising cattle and his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed traveling to coyote hunts in different places. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brother, Jimmy Garner and brother-in-law, Vern Chandler. He is survived by sons, Mike Garner and wife Elaine of Laural, Mont., Steve Garner and wife Sandra, Doug Garner and David Garner and friend Diana Morrison, all of Osceola; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Wilene Sanders and husband Paul of Osceola, Shirley Chandler of Lacona, Barbara Croat and husband Michael of St. Mary's and Jean Walton and husband William of Lino Lakes, Minn.; brother Jerry Garner and wife Kayla of Osceola; as well as other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services for Mr. Garner were held May 1, 2006 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Pastor Dwayne Henrichs officiating. Casket bearers were Todd Chapman, David Ballard, Gary Garner, Curt Garner, Ricki Seurferer, Butch Stills, Shawn Ballard and Corey Garner. Honorary bearers were Buck Carson, Tom Spurgin, Jerry Vestal, Rick Oshel, Buck Norris, Dennis Grey, Dick Stills, Short Ransom and Eldon Garner. Graveside military rites were conducted by Herndon-Oehlert American Legion Post 157. Interment was in Bethel Chapel Cemetery in rural Clarke County.
