Tuggle passed away last Monday afternoon at his home in this city, after a three weeks illness. Tuggle passed away last Monday afternoon at his home in this city, after a three weeks illness. His death will come as a shock to his wide acquaintance, as his condition had improved somewhat last week and there was hope for his recovery. Mr. Tuggle was born in Shelbyville Jan. 10, 1848, and was therefore aged 64 years and 12 days. All of his life with the exception of a few months was spent in Shelby county. He moved from Leonard to a farm northeast of this city 8 years ago where he resided until he again became a resident of Shelbyville about one year ago. He was married to Miss Mary E. Peoples on Feb. 2, 1871, and to this union were born 11 children. The wife, 10 children, one brother, Jas. Tuggle of Shelbina, and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Sanders of Hannibal, survive him. The children are O.L. Tuggle and Mrs. Anna Hawkins, northeast of town, W.H. Tuggle of Kansas City, E.H. and Roy Tuggle, southeast of town, Mrs. Ella May Ballance of near Leonard, Herbert, Hurley, Lola and Ethel, who remain at home. Mr. Tuggle lived the life of a noble christian gentleman and through his reliability and integrity, his pleasant ways and many fine qualities as a man he won an enviable place in the hearts of our people. He stood high in the regard of all who knew him and his death is sincerely mourned by friends all over the county. He united with the Christian church 40 years ago and his funeral services were held at that church Wednesday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. conducted by the pastor, Rev. F.B. Holden. Interment took place in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
