Services were held Thursday at Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden with the Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating. Mr. Cannon was born Aug. 6, 1930, to Raymond and Helen (Rietan) Cannon in Minden. He graduated from Minden High School and received his degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Services were held Thursday at Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden with the Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating. Mr. Cannon was born Aug. 6, 1930, to Raymond and Helen (Rietan) Cannon in Minden. He graduated from Minden High School and received his degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He served in the U.S. Air Force. On Feb. 24, 1952, he married Barbara Baker. He worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1956-62 and also from 1964-91, when he lived in Vienna, Va. He was employed by the Foreign Agriculture Service and had visited 64 countries and traveled around the world five times. From 1970-72, he was deputy agricultural attache at the embassy in Rome, Italy. He became a member of the Senior Executive Service in 1979. In 1991, he retired to Orange Park. He worked with The Lighthouse Learning Center in Orange Park. Survivors are his wife of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons, Michael of Mason, Ohio, and Thomas of Fairfax, Va.; one daughter, Susan Darnell of Ashburn; and three grandchildren.
