Mr. McKee passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at his home in Abilene.He was born December 31, 1925 the son of Virgil and Esther (Ehrsam) McKee. Kay graduated from Abilene High School was a WWII Army Air Force Cadet. Kay was the founder of McKee Pools in Abilene in the mid 1960's retiring in 2009.He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, National Wood Carvers Association, the Elks Lodge, and the American Legion. Kay was also an AA Member celebrating over 40 years of sobriety and was an avid aviation hobbyist building rockets and airplanes. More lately he was known for his duck decoy carvings, many of which were donated to the St. Andrew, s school auction.On July 25, 1951 Kay married Elizabeth "Liz" Hutton in Abilene. Liz passed away April 24, 1997. Kay is survived by his daughters Ann Regnier and her husband Bob of Leawood, Kansas, Martha Holtzen of Bonner Springs, Kansas, Julie Hanson and her husband Joel of Stillwell, Kansas, Lisa Campbell and her husband Jim of Overland Park, Kansas; sons Chris and his wife Melissa McKee of Abilene, Bruce McKee of Lawrence, Kansas, Matt & his wife Sandy McKee of Halstead, Kansas, John and his wife Kat McKee of Abilene; brothers Quentin McKee of Salina, Virgil McKee Jr of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister Patsy Little of Abilene; 30 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Liz, brothers O.E. McKee, Lewis McKee, his sister ValJean Wensel, and his parents.Kay's final resting place will be in the Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery. A parish vigil will be 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home with the family receiving friends following.
