Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church in David City, with the Monsignor Adrian Herbek officiating. A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Roberts-Chermok Funeral Home in David City. There will be no visitation. Mr. Kovar was born Sept. 15, 1927, near Bruno, to James and Mary (Cemper) Kovar. He graduated from David City High School and attended mechanics specialized training with General Motors. He married Louise Goosman June 14, 1948, in David City. He resided in Butler County for the entirety of his life. He was a mechanic with Kovar and Sons from 1948-53 and with David Chevrolet from 1953-71. He then owned and operated B&K Repair from 1971 until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the church and former member of the Eagles Club. He was a drummer with the Bud Comte Orchestra for several years. He enjoyed car racing, fishing and camping. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Doug (Sue) Kovar of Schuyler, Kenny (Tammy) Kovar of Rising City and Rick (Jami) Kovar of David City; one daughter, Nancy (Don) Theewen of David City; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Victor.
