Dick was born on Nov. 28, 1934, in Topeka, Kan., to Joseph and Anna. He grew up in Nebraska before serving in the U.S. Army from 1959 until 1961. He married Margaret on Nov. 19, 1961, in Loup City, Neb. The newlyweds moved to Montana, where Dick began a career with the Bureau of Land Management. He advanced to supervisor of cadastral surveying and retired after 33 years. He went on to work several more years for Infotec. He was a member of St. Pius X Church, across the street from the home he lived in for 48 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Dick took pride and joy in his years of coaching and umpiring youth and American Legion baseball games. His service combined his love of the game, his perfectionist’s belief in the importance of details and his lifelong conviction that he always made the right call, even when disputed. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter Laura Lustgraaf, who lives in Missoula with her husband Greg, and their daughter Sarah; son Richard, his wife Becky and their daughters Maggie and Ruby, of McLean, Va.; son Joe, his wife Dawn and their son Cameron, of Billings; and son David, his wife Terri Rupar and their daughter Matilda, of Washington, D.C. He is also survived by his brother, Wallace, of Wichita, Kan., and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Okla Mae Larimer; his sister, JoAnne Sullivan, and her husband, Herman; and his sister-in-law, Jean Reynolds. A vigil will be held at 7 p.m., June 21 at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave., in Billings. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., June 22 at St. Pius, 717 18th St. W., followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
