Born on May 12, 1940 in Westernport, Md., he was a son of the late Edmund Joseph Niland and Mary Louise (Ryan) Niland. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael T. Niland on September 1, 2016. Dick was an Account Executive at Keller Stonebreaker Insurance Company in Keyser. He was a 1958 graduate Piedmont High School and a 1960 graduate of Potomac State College. He was a member of Keyser Rotary Club, Loyal Order of Moose #662 and Calvary United Methodist Church where he was a former member of Board of Trustees Surviving are his son, Richard L. “Rick” Niland, Jr. and wife Barbara “Bobbi” of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; his granddaughter, Shay Niland Petitto and husband Michael of Morgantown; his brothers, Joseph Niland and wife Nancy of Keyser and James Niland and wife Reba of LaVale, Md.; and his sister, Barbara Shank and husband Joe of Keyser. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Rebecca Niland of Cumberland and his nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Services will be held at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 233 S. Mineral Street, Keyser, at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017 with the Reverend Wayne Gosnell officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Westernport, Md. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services.
