Description	:	Richard Lee Haines, 74, of Ottumwa, died at 1:50 a.m. October 25, 2019 at Hospice House in Ottumwa. He was born April 8, 1945 in Ottumwa to Robert F. and Fawn Deer Nesbit Haines. Read More	Richard Lee Haines, 74, of Ottumwa, died at 1:50 a.m. October 25, 2019 at Hospice House in Ottumwa. He was born April 8, 1945 in Ottumwa to Robert F. and Fawn Deer Nesbit Haines. Rick married Sheryl Pierson on June 22, 1968. A 1963 graduate of Ottumwa High School, he graduated from Iowa Tech in computer maintenance. Rick served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Rick started his working career with HyVee in 1963 working in the meat department, he then worked for Easter Super Valu and Econo Foods for 38 years, retiring in 2007. Rick worked for HyVee part time in the meat department for 9 years before retiring in 2017. He was a member of Grace Church and for many years a member of High Point Foursquare Gospel Church. Rick enjoyed camping with his family. Surviving is his wife, Sheryl; three sons, Brent (Kristy) Haines, Brian Haines and Jason (Gina) Haines all of Ottumwa; five grandchildren, McKinna, Keaton, Kaden, Kason and Jayven; eight step-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; two step-brothers, Bob (Lea) Huddleston of Ottumwa and Dennis (Marcia) Huddleston of Ottumwa; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Donna Mooney of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Danny Sheumaker of Ottumwa. Rick was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Betty Huddleston; a sister, Neila Sheumaker; brother, Bernie Haines; mother-in-law, Marie Pierson; sister-in-law, Sharon Mooney. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Loyd Osborn and Rev. Nancy Cameron officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice serving Davis and Wapello Counties.
