Rich passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN, following a brief illness. Richard Leon Kezar was born on October 15, 1947, to Dale and Virginia (Dunton) Kezar in Aberdeen, SD. Rich attended grade school at Sacred Heart School before graduating from Aberdeen Central High School with the Class of 1965. In November of 1966, Rich enlisted in the United States Army and served his country until the time of his honorable discharge in November of 1970. Upon returning to Aberdeen, Rich furthered his education at Northern State College and received his Bachelor’s degree in 1975 before earning his Engineering degree. Rich was united in marriage to Linda Armstrong at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen on June 15, 1974. Their union was blessed with two sons and a daughter. The family made Aberdeen their home, where Rich was employed with A & M Radio for a short time before beginning what would become a 33-year career as an Engineer with 3M. Rich retired in 2009 and continued to make Aberdeen his home until the time of his death. Rich’s faith was very important to him and he remained an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church throughout his lifetime. He was also very involved in many civic and community groups, including most recently, Boy Scouts of America, American Legion Post #24, VFW Post #17, Brown County Emergency Management, Aberdeen Zoning and Planning Board and HAM Radio. Blessed to have shared Rich’s life is his wife of 42 years, Linda Kezar; three children: David Kezar, Dawn (Travis) Lemer and James (Ericka) Kezar; four grandchildren; one brother, Mike (Sherry) Kezar; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
