He was a retired employee of International Paper where he was a member of the Quarter Century Society. Mr. Marlowe was born June 12, 1952 in Horry County, SC, a son of John "Milby" Marlowe and Susie Lee Jones Marlowe. Ricky and Betty were married on February 21, 1970, and celebrated 47 years together. He was survived by two children, Jennifer (Timmy) Langston and Miriam Marlowe; two grandchildren, Jayden and Nicholas; two brothers, Wendell Marlowe and Terry Marlowe; and a sister, Terra (Chris) Grainger. He was predeceased by his parents. Funeral services were Monday, March 13, 2017, in Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The Rev. James Herring and the Rev. Hazel Mixon officiated. Burial followed in Garden of Devotion Cemetery, Johnsonville, SC. The Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
