He was born in Park City, Montana, on September 11, 1930 to Alvin Elmo and Lillie Mae (Seachris) Southworth. He was the youngest of 9 children. Read More	Richard Neil Southworth September 11, 1930 ~ February 16, 2020 (age 89) Obituary Richard Neil Southworth, 89, of Billings, passed away early the morning of February 16, 2020 at his home in Morning Star Senior Living. He was born in Park City, Montana, on September 11, 1930 to Alvin Elmo and Lillie Mae (Seachris) Southworth. He was the youngest of 9 children. Richard graduated from Park City High School in the spring of 1950. After graduation, Richard went to work for the Northern Pacific Railroad as a telegrapher. He married his high school sweetheart, Catherine (Katie) Ora Scott on January 20, 1951. Also, in 1951 Richard was drafted into the United States Army and served two years in Korea, where he continued his work as a telegrapher. After returning from Korea, Richard went to work at the family business, Scotty’s Truck Stop in Park City as a mechanic, eventually managing the business which was sold in 1978. Then Richard moved on to Scheel’s and A&I Distributing as a small engine mechanic until his retirement. During his time in Park City, he served as a volunteer fireman, eventually becoming fire chief. In his retirement, he helped build Stillwater Ostrich Company with his son David and also helped him build a helicopter. Richard and Katie moved from their home in Park City to Morning Star Senior Living in October 2015, where they were together until her death in April of 2019. Richard is survived by one brother, Joe Southworth, and children Nicki (Rick) Larson, Dave (Velda) Southworth and Kelly Bernhardt. Also left behind are 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren. 3 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Katie, his parents, 7 siblings and his son Tracy Southworth. Richard was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing and camping. He also loved to build things with his hands and could fix anything. He was a rock hound and made beautiful jewelry for family and friends. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed. A Graveside Gathering will be 10:00 am Saturday February 22, 2020 at Park City Cemetery followed by Military Honors.
