He passed away in the comfort of his Sun City, AZ home, surrounded by his family. Rick graduated from Lamoni High School, Class of 1970. Following graduation, he attended Graceland College for a short time before starting his own business Shoemaker Electric, Plumbing and Heating. He married his first wife, Edith "Edie" Minnick in 1973. This marriage blessed them with two children, Jenny and Jesse Shoemaker. Following Edie's passing, he married his second wife, Debra "Deb" Smith, in 1998. In the words of a close friend, "Rick was a quiet guy but everyone knew not to talk about his middle name or call him Ricky. Consequences would be swift and fierce and certain". Some may remember him popping wheelies on his motorcycle through town. He was very competitive and loved sports. He played fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball, basketball, and golf. He was a hard worker who was always willing to help. He was kind, loved and respected by many. He loved his family and his best memories was watching his kids and grandkids play sports. Rick is survived by his second wife, Deb; his children: Jenny Davis and husband Emmett, Jesse Shoemaker; grandchildren: Emily and Chase Davis; siblings: Yvonne Craig, Darrell Shoemaker and wife Norma, Janet Harrelson and husband Dwane; brother-in-laws: Clayton Ward, and Bill Stuart; and many other family members. Rick was preceded in death by wife, Edie; parents: Harvey and Geneva Shoemaker; brother-in-law: Mark Craig, and Roger Hime; sisters: Martha Ward, Katy Stuart, and Gin Hime.
