Description	:	U.S. NAVY Richard P. Uhl, 61, of South Sioux City died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church, with the Rev. David Liewer officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, with a military flag presentation. Visitation will be 2 to 8:30 p.m. today, with a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Mr. Uhl was born Aug. 14, 1938, in Yankton, S.D., the son of Harold W. and Pauline (Fitzpatrick) Uhl. He attended local schools and military school. He married Shirley M. Peterson. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959. He was employed with various machine shops for many years and as a carpenter for 25 years with Klinger Construction, retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Carpenters Union Local 948 and American Legion Post 307. Survivors include three sons and their wives, David and Tina of Sioux City, Brian and Shelly of North Sioux City and Tommy and Tracy of Ponca, Neb.; a brother and his wife, Doug and Donna of Sioux City; a sister, Gwen Hampton of Spencer, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and a special friend, Evelyn "Kathy" Montgomery. He was preceded in death his parents; a son, Randy; and a brother, Harold Jr. Pallbearers will be members of Carpenter Union Local 948, James Agostine, Steven Bales, Jack Clay, Ronald Dixon, David and Jerrold Gill, Edmund Kieler and Brian Sands.
