Description	:	Wabash – Richard R. "Dick" Matchett, 88, formerly of Swayzee, died at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Rolling Meadows Healthcare. Dick was born in Jackson Township (Howard County) to the late C. Raymond and Ruth E. (Toyne) Matchett. He married Kathleen Highley on June 29, 1941, and she preceded him in death. "Dick" Matchett, 88, formerly of Swayzee, died at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Rolling Meadows Healthcare. Dick was born in Jackson Township (Howard County) to the late C. Raymond and Ruth E. (Toyne) Matchett. He married Kathleen Highley on June 29, 1941, and she preceded him in death. He was a member of the Swayzee United Methodist Church. He worked at Chrysler and was a member of the UAW Local #685 of Kokomo. He also was a 60-year member and a 50-year past Master of the Swayzee Masonic Grant Lodge #637 and a lifetime member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Ft. Wayne. He was an inactive member of the Swayzee Volunteer Fire Department and Medic 5 of Swayzee. He also had been a substitute school bus driver for Oak Hill Schools. He loved his Harley Davidson and was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and the Over the Hill Motorcycle Group. He also loved to boat and camp on many of the major rivers in the US. Survivors include daughters, Linda Knight, Herbst, Judy Barker, Swartz Creek, MI, Patty (Mike) DeVore, Wabash; grandchildren, Angi (David) Jewell, Charlotte, MI, Bret (Melissa) Barker, Fenton, MI, Rick (Amy) Barker, Flint, MI, Jodi (James) Trisler, Wabash, Jeff (Amy) Boswell, U.S. Coast Guard, Buffalo, NY, Katie (Tim) Jones, Somerset; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren; and special friend, Jeff Duncan. He was preceded in death by wife, Kathleen Matchett; parents; brother, John Daniel Matchett; and son-in-law, Richard Knight. Visitation is from 2-6 pm on Saturday, December 19, 2009 and from 12–1 pm on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Needham-Storey- Wampner Funeral Service, Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington Street, Swayzee, Indiana. There will be a Masonic Rites Service on Saturday at 6 pm at the funeral home. Funeral Services are at 1 pm on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Needham-Storey- Wampner Funeral Service, Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington Street, Swayzee Indiana with Reverend James Miller officiating. Burial will be Monday in Thrailkill Cemetery, Swayzee. The family would like to thank the loving staff at Rolling Meadows for the care and support they provided.
