Richards’s mother died when he was 1 year old, he was reared in the home of his grandparents Charles and Hannah Rohloff. He graduated from Delta High school in 1943. Richards’s mother died when he was 1 year old, he was reared in the home of his grandparents Charles and Hannah Rohloff. He graduated from Delta High school in 1943. Richard severed in the United States Navy from 1943 - 1946 and later received his B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1950. He taught music at Dysart, Iowa for 1 year before returning to farming. On December 28, 1957 he married Jean Klein at the Sigourney Christian Church. He taught at Tri-County School from 1969 – 1991 along with his farming. He served as interim choir director at the Nazarene Church. Richard loved the Lord and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Jean, son John (Deb) Rohloff of Oskaloosa, daughter Ann (Brian) Partridge, four grandchildren Adam (Haley) Rohloff, Allison (Andrew) Ter Louw, T.C. Partridge, and Nicholas Partridge, one great-granddaughter Ava Ter Louw and one sister Barbara Gillett of Kingsburg, California.
