Richard Roy Jauer was born November 9, 1946 in Sioux City, Iowa to Glenn “Buzz” and Monica Margaret “Dolly” (Sitzmann) Jauer. He attended country school near his home in Hungerford Township and later graduated from Hinton High School in 1964. Following high school, Richard attended and graduated from Western Iowa Tech with a degree in drafting. Rich began his career working as a carpenter in Colorado for a couple of years before returning to Iowa to work for Simonsen Industries of Quimby as a draftsman. He worked for Simonsen for over 40 years. Rich helped care for his parents during their later years. In the late 1990’s, Rich had a kidney transplant and in the following years helped promote awareness of organ donation. In his spare time, he enjoyed “tinkering” in the shop. He enjoyed going fishing with his parents. He was also very interested in family genealogy. Survivors include his siblings: Roger Jauer and his wife Karen of Hinton, Joyce Thill and her husband Adrian of Minneapolis, MN, and Jim Jauer and his wife Kim of Hinton; an aunt, Jean Israel and her husband John of Loveland, CO; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn “Buzz” and Monica Margaret “Dolly” (Sitzmann) Jauer; and several aunts and uncles. [Courtesy: Carlsen Funeral Homes]
