Read More	Richard Russell Kuecker, 51 Aberdeen American News (SD) - Sunday, November 2, 2003 Webster - Richard Kuecker, 51, of Webster died on Thursday, October 30, 2003, at Lake Area Hospital in Webster. Richard Russell Kuecker was born on Monday, September 22, 1952, to Norman and Ellen (Voegele) Kuecker at Webster, South Dakota. The family made their home in Morton Township, Day County, South Dakota south of Webster. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Webster. He attended Webster Public Schools and graduated from Webster High School in 1970. After high school he attended South Dakota State University in Brookings and then returned to the family farm. Richard dedicated his entire life to the farm that his grandfather, Walter and his father spent their life building. Richard began farming as a small boy and continued with his father to establish what is now known as Kuecker Seed Farms, Inc., which he and son, Steven continue to do so. They operate one of the top seed growing farms in the state, raising various varieties of registered and certified seed. The business markets seed in the upper Midwest as well as exporting to foreigh countries. Richard took pride in seed processing and continually strived to raise and market an excellent quality seed. He was dedicated to the improvement of agriculture for its progession through continued research, marketing and value-added agriculture. He was adamant at keeping the family farm as a way of life for future generations. Richard married Amy Holmes on June 28, 1981, at the Webster United Methodist Church. They made their home on the family farm raising their four children. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Webster where he served on the church council. He was appointed by the Governor to the South Dakota Wheat Commission. Richard served on the Lake Region Electric Cooperative Board, Farm Credit Services Advisory Board, the advisory committee of the Webster High School F.F.A., a director of the Day County Izaak Walton League, a Director and Treasusrer of the Day County Crop Improvement, a council member of Northern Crops Institute and was a North Crops Council Board member and was a former member and active supporter of 4-H. He was active in supporting the research wing of the newly renovated greenhouse at S.D.S.U. He received the F.F.A. State Farmer Degree, and award from the Friends of Plant Science Department at S.D.S.U. in recognition of his assistance to their department and in 2002 recieved the Meritorious Service Award from the day County Crop Improvement Associateion. Richard passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2003, at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 51 years, 1 month and 8 days. Survivors include his wife, Amy of Webster; two sons, Steven and Landon Kuecker, two daughters, Emily and Alyssa Kuecker all of Webser, S.D.; and his mother, Ellen Kuecker of Webster, S.D. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman.
