Sistare, one of Waxhaw's oldest and best known citizens, died at a Charlotte hospital Saturday afternoon after years of poor health and an immediate illness of ten days. Sistare, one of Waxhaw's oldest and best known citizens, died at a Charlotte hospital Saturday afternoon after years of poor health and an immediate illness of ten days. Funeral and burial services were conducted at the cemetery here Monday afternoon by Rev. R. J. McIlwaine, and the body was laid beside that of his wife, who died about one year ago. 'Squire Sistare was seventy-three years old. During the Civil war he was a loyal soldier of the Confederacy. He was for several terms mayor of Waxhaw. Since early life a member of the Presbyterian church, he was for a long time a faithful officer. He served for fifteen years as secretary of the Waxhaw Sunday school. Surviving him are three daughters, Mrs. W. A. Wolfe and Miss Rosa Sistare of Waxhaw, and Mrs. John Graham of Ernhart, S. C. Mrs. L. D. Gribble of Dallas, a grand daughter, was reared in his home. two brothers and one sister, Will Sistare of Tradesville, John Sistare of Rock Hill and Mrs. Redden of Charlotte, also survive.
