Dixon August 5, 2015 CHARDON — Richard T. Dixon, age 86, of N. Broadway, Geneva, Ohio, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon at UH-Geauga Medical Center. Born in 1929 in Geneva, he was the son of John H. “Tex” and Ruth (Smith) Dixon and has been a Geneva resident all of his life, wintering in New Port Richey, Fla., the past 19 years. He was married to Jane L. Robinson on Sept. 12, 1950, in Jefferson. Mr. Dixon spent 28 years with the True Temper Corp. in Geneva and 13 years as head of maintenance at Geneva Memorial Hospital before taking his retirement. Mr. Dixon attended the Gateway Church in Austinburg Township and attended the Hudson Church of God in Florida. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Florida. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and searching with his metal detector. He also collected antiques, bottles and arrowheads. Survivors include four children, James W. (Carol) Dixon of Geneva, Robert L. (Lourdes) Dixon of Ft. Worth, Texas, Richard A. Dixon of Andover and Susan J. (Jerry) Evans of Ft. Worth, Texas; three grandchildren, Corie Dixon, and Christopher and Kari Evans; two great-grandchildren, Camryn Evans and MacKenzie Kent; a sister-in-law, Lou Ann Heino of Ashtabula; and a dear companion, Lucille Hill of Mead, Colo. He was a loving father, a loyal friend to many and an honorable man. His family loved him, and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his father, John “Tex” Dixon in 1977; his mother, Ruth Dixon in 2003; his wife, Jane in 1990; sisters, Carolyn Dunagin in 2015 and Virginia Kitson in 2008; and a brother in infancy, Robert Dixon. Memorial Services will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, at the Gateway Church, 2300 Austinburg Road in Austinburg Township, with Pastor Don Hammer officiating. Burial is in Mechanicsville Cemetery. Dunagin, age 79, of Geneva, Ohio, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015, at Geneva Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, where she had been a resident the past 5 years. She was born June 22, 1936, in Geneva, Ohio, to Ruth (neé: Smith) and John Dixon. Carolyn was a graduate of the Platt R. Spencer High School. Right out of high school, she was a telephone operator for Western Reserve Telephone Company in Geneva. Carolyn retired from Alltel of Ashtabula and was a member of Park Street Christian Church. She is survived by daughters, Cheryl (Doug) Farren, Linda Berrier and Patricia Palmer, all of Geneva; grandchildren, Phylicia Palmer of Ashtabula and Patrick Palmer of Geneva, Brianna and Brandon Berrier of Geneva; and brother, Richard Dixon of Geneva and Florida. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; brother in infancy, Bobby Dixon; and sister, Virginia Kitson of Ashtabula. No Calling Hours will be observed. Burial will be in Saybrook Township Cemetery, Ashtabula, Ohio, at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 2nd, with family and friends invited to pay respects. Pastor John Munday will be officiating. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides from Geneva Village for their loving care of their mother. Special thanks goes to the Hospice of Western Reserve for their care in Carolyn’s final days.
