Description	:	Rick William Carlson, 52, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at Bergen Mercy Hospital in Omaha. Services were 10 a.m. today at Calvary Christian Church in Bellevue, Neb., with the Rev. David Erickson of First Christian Church officiating. Graveside services were 3 p.m. today in Whiting Cemetery, Whiting. Rick was born July 3, 1956, in Onawa, Iowa, to Jack and Katherine (Reed) Carlson. He graduated from Whiting High School in 1974. In 2001, he received a master of arts in practical ministries from Cincinnati Christian University. He was an associate pastor at First Christian Church in Council Bluffs for 11 years. He was an adjudicate instructor at Nebraska Christian College. He currently served as minister of involvement at Wildewood Christian Church in Papillion, Neb. In August 2008, he received the Spirit Of Courage Award granted by the Jennie Edmundson Hospital Foundation in Council Bluffs. He was on the parent advisory board for the Cystic Fibrosis Care Center, a 24 year member of First Christian Church and the Noon Enthusiasts Club of Council Bluffs. Above all else, he loved the Lord. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jennifer (Richter) Carlson; a daughter and her husband, Jacquelyn and Michael Nelson of Herceg Novi, Montenegro; two sons, Justin Carlson of Council Bluffs and Ryan Carlson currently stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Candace Carlson of Council Bluffs; his mother and her husband, Katherine and Vincent Willey of Whiting; a brother and his wife, Ken and Carolyn Carlson of Onawa, Iowa; a sister, Ann Carlson of Council Bluffs; and two brothers and their wives, Dave and Nancy Carlson of Sioux Center, Iowa, and Dean and Dana Carlson of Pender, Neb. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Carlson.
