Description	:	His parents were Gieko and Anna (Dirksen) Rieken. One of 10 children, Rieke received his education at Emden, Germany. He was baptized into the Lutheran Faith in December 1900 and later confirmed at Emden in Dec. 1915. Nov. 29, 1918 he married Trine Harms in Emden, 11 childrenborn to this marriage. Two children, Gieko and Janet were both born in Germany. Mr. and Mrs. Rieken came to America on May 1, 1923 and both became citizens of the Un.s. in Tecumseh in 1927. One of 10 children, Rieke received his education at Emden, Germany. He was baptized into the Lutheran Faith in December 1900 and later confirmed at Emden in Dec. 1915. Nov. 29, 1918 he married Trine Harms in Emden, 11 childrenborn to this marriage. Two children, Gieko and Janet were both born in Germany. Mr. and Mrs. Rieken came to America on May 1, 1923 and both became citizens of the Un.s. in Tecumseh in 1927. They settled in Johnson County werhe they farmed until 1931. They then moved to Nemaha County and continued farming until their retirement in 1971, at which time they moved to Tecumseh, NE. He died at Belle Terrace Home in Tecumseh, Ne. at the age of 99 years, eight months and 15 days. Rieke was a member of St. matthew Lutheran Church in Johnson. He served on the church council for eight years. Rieke served in the German Army during WW I. He worked for the REA in the 1930's putting in the first rural electric lines. He worked for Bicknell Implemant for two years after retirement from farming. He enjoyed farming and raising livestock. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Trine on July 2, 1988, seven brothers, two sisters, and four children. Surviving are children Janet Fletchall, Peg Thomsen and husband Ray , Tena Green and husband Marvin, John Rieken and wife Irene, Frances Goings and hus. Harley. Henry Rieken and wife Vera, Lena Lotter and husband Larrry. 27 grandchildren, two step-grandchidren, 50 great-grandchildren, 5step great-grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. daughter in law Dora Rieken and son in law Don Harms. Services were held April 17th at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Johnson, NE. Interment was in the church cemetery near Johnson, NE.
