Robert Foster officiated at the services at St. John's Catholic Church. Burial was in the Riverdale Cemetery. The young bride of four months, well-known in her community, was valedictorian of her class at Riverdale High School in 1953. At the time of her death, she was a night nurse at University Hospital in Omaha, She was married to Keith Kappenman, a Creighton University dental school student, last February. She was buried in her wedding dress. Rita, the daughter Russell and Helen Richter Hand, was born at Hazard, Nebraska. Their farm family later lived in the Pleasanton and then Riverdale communities where she attended school. Surviving, in addition to her husband, Keith, are her parents Mr. and Mrs. Russell (Helen) Hand of Riverdale, and two sisters, Sharon Hand, who is attending St. Mary's college in Omaha, and Barbara, of Riverdale.
