Rita Jane (Gardner) Johnston, age 62, passed away on Friday; July 6, 2007 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital in Marengo; Iowa County, Iowa after an extended battle with cancer. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her three children: Jeffrey & his wife: Melissa Johnston of Lapeer; Lapeer County, Michigan. Angela & her husband: Mike Hopson of West Des Moines; Polk County, Iowa and Susan M. & her husband: Terry Kennedy of Raymore; Cass County, Missouri. Her eight grandchildren: Chase, Drew & Grant Johnston, Brad, Mitchell & Nicholas Hopson and Grace & Sarah Kennedy. Her mother: Nadine Gardner of Marengo, Iowa. Her two brothers: Dale & his wife: Janet Gardner of Cedar Rapids; Linn County, Iowa and Paul & his wife: Betty Gardner of Coralville; Johnson County, Iowa. Her sister: Jeanie & her husband: John Lehnst of Williamsburg, Iowa. Her six nieces and nephews: Alan Gardner, Steve Gardner, Sheri McDonald, Lori McMahon, Jason Lehnst and Jamie Muse. She was preceded in death by her father. May they rest in peace.
