Rita Kathleen (Schell) Aspengren was born in Boone, Iowa on April 27, 1929, the daughter of Arthur and Leona (Cribbens) Schell. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Boone in 1947. Rita married Carl Aspengren on September 9, 1948 in Boone. From 1961 to 1986, Rita worked as an assembler at Bourns in Ames. She later worked for the hot lunch program at Page School. Rita Kathleen (Schell) Aspengren was born in Boone, Iowa on April 27, 1929, the daughter of Arthur and Leona (Cribbens) Schell. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Boone in 1947. Rita married Carl Aspengren on September 9, 1948 in Boone. From 1961 to 1986, Rita worked as an assembler at Bourns in Ames. She later worked for the hot lunch program at Page School. Rita enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, dice games, and playing cards, especially pitch, cribbage, and pinochle. She and Carl enjoyed camping at Twin Lakes, in Calhoun County and Cass Lake in Minnesota. Rita was a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl, a granddaughter Courtney Rae Aspengren, and a brother Vernon Schell. Rita is survived by three sons, Timothy (Becky) Aspengren, Richard (Joan) Aspengren, and Brian Aspengren all of Boone; three daughters, Deborah (Jerry 'Pete') Michel of Boone, Sandra (Steve) Niester and Patricia (Steve) Lewis all of Ames; a brother David (Jan) Schell of Melrose; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Following her wishes, she has been cremated. A Funeral Mass was held on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Randy Schon officiating. Funeral arrangements were handled by Schroeder Memorial Chapel, at Sixth and Marshall.
