She was born October 17, 1948 in Central City, NE to Robert and Agnes (Christensen) Spencer. On November 26, 1967, she was married to Boyd Lee Critel in Central City, NE. Rita worked for several years as a hair dresser and a bus driver. She volunteered with Blue Valley Community Action, was involved with the Red Hatters, and enjoyed leather crafts. She is survived by her children: Dallas Critel, Stacy Shipps, Cindy (Chris) Critel, and Michelle Potter (Jimmy Stevens Jr.). She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Jessica Gibson; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, brothers: Charles (Brenda) Spencer, Roger (Teri) Spencer; sisters: Delores Mason, Louise (Craig) Penna, and Janet (Jack) Schneider; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Cody, and special friend Mavis Neville. Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Monday, June 17, 2019 at Metz Chapel, York. Private inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, York. No visitation, cremation.
