Rita had a severe case of the flu some time ago which resulted in poisoning her system. Funeral services will be held today from the Catholic church at Ashton today. The family have the heart felt sympathy of the entire community. The Sherman County Times - Feb 6 1931 ------------------------------------------------ One on the largest funerals ever held in Ashton occurred when friends and relatives paid their last tribute to Ritz Jezewski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Jezewski, who died last Tuesday after an illness of about three weeks. Funeral services were held from the residence Friday morning at ten o'clock to the St. Francis Catholic Church with Rev. Father Jazemski officiating. The pall-bearers were Paul Goc, Mello Lorenz, Clemence Stobbe, Heliodor Goc, Sigmund Gawrych and Norbert Kalkowski. The procession was led by six girls, members of the Children of Mary Sodality who were dressed in white and carried the floral offerings following came the Infant Jesus Sodality, of which Rita was a member, who were in a body. The school children and the nuns led the funeral procession to the St. Francis Cemetery, after the services at the church, where the body was laid to rest. Rita Jezewski was born in Ashton, Nebraska, February 17, 1919 and died at the age of 11 years, 11 months and 14 days. She lived in Ashton all her life and attended the St. Francis parochial school, where at the time of her death she was a student in the sixth grade. Surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Jezewski, a sister Helen and her grandmother, Mrs. Mary Jezewski, also her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Aug.
