Funeral mass will be 10:30 am, Thursday, September 30, 2021(with a rosary at 10:00 am) at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kranzburg, SD with Father Christopher Hughes as celebrant. Honorary pallbearers will be Rita's grandchildren, Birthday Club members and VFW Auxiliary. Rita Mae Mack was born August 31, 1932 in Watertown, South Dakota to Hubert and Nora (Endres) Ries. She grew up on a farm southwest of Kranzburg and attended country grade school. Rita attended Watertown High School and graduated in 1950. Rita married DuWayne L. Mack on July 6, 1955 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. Their early years were spent in Kranzburg until the spring of 1966 when they moved to their farm. She enjoyed the various roles she played on the farm from wife, mother, and homemaker, to helper, grandmother and great-grandmother and so much more! Rita and DuWayne had celebrated 66 loving years together, on the farm, before Rita passed away. Rita was a member of Ladies Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, Kranzburg Choir, Birthday/Card Club and VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking, canning, gardening, flower gardens, scrapbooking, pinochle and solitaire. Rita is survived by her husband, DuWayne; her children, Alan (Lois) Mack of Brookings, Keith (Cindy) Mack of Watertown, Cheryl (Ted) Sutton of Castlewood, Terry Mack of Goodwin, SD, Cindy (Robert) Lee of De Smet, Darwin (Mary) Mack of Goodwin, Denise (Dean) Maag of Aberdeen, Rosanne Mack of Clear Lake and Scott (Sonia) Mack of Brookings; her sister, Donna Hanten of Goodwin; and her sister-in-law, Armella Ries of Watertown; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Audrey Ann Mack; her grandson, Brogan Mack; her brothers, Donald, Vincent and twins, Delbert and Duane Ries; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. - Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel
