Rita was born December 1, 1936, in Omak, WA to Merle L. Wyatt and Jane Martin Wyatt. Rita grew up in Omak and graduated from Omak High School in 1954. She was a majorette in the marching band. After graduation, she worked at several businesses in Omak, the Credit Bureau and Capital Finance Company. She married Chuck Heinlen on May 11, 1963, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Omak. She was very active in the church, being a youth group leader, reader in the church and also with the International Dinner Group. Rita and Chuck had a small farm south of Okanogan, where they raised cattle, hay and pears. Rita always had a garden and liked to raise flowers. She loved to sit in the orchard by the river, reading a good book and eating chocolate candy bars. Rita was very active in the agriculture community. She belonged to the Okanogan County Cattlewomen and to the Washington State Cattlewomen. She was Okanogan County Cattlewomen President and also Washington State Cattlewomen President. She was elected Cattlewoman of the Year for Okanogan County and also for Washington State. She attended several State and National Conventions. Her work in agriculture continued as she worked at Hamilton Farm Equipment in Okanogan for 25 years. She enjoyed the people she worked with and also all the farmers, ranchers and orchardists whom she met while working there. Rita was also active in the Okanogan County Fair, winning several Grand Champion ribbons for her cakes and pies. She was also a member of the Malott Grange. Rita is survived by husband, Chuck of Okanogan; son, Charles and wife, Susan of Okanogan, WA; son, Jeff and wife, Erica of Tonasket, WA; three granddaughters, Lauren Heinlen of Springdale, WA and Jessica and Megan Heinlen, both of Tonasket, WA; sister, Delores and Gene Janel of Langley, B.C.; and sister, Barbara Wyatt of Shelton, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; two grandchildren, Morgan and Colin Heinlen; and one nephew, Gregg Stratton. Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012, at Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel. Viewing will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2012. Services will follow the Viewing at the church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Lunch will follow the Interment back at the church. Memorials in Rita's name may be made to a charity of your choice. Precht-Harrison-Nearents is in charge of the arrangements.
