Mrs. Marshall, the former Rita McKenna was born August 17, 1917 to Frank and Alice (O'Rourke) McKenna at home in rural Otter Creek, Iowa. She graduated from Holy Rosary High School in LaMotte, Iowa. Read More	Rita (Mrs. Laurence) Marshall, 94, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Tuesday evening November 15, 2011 at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton, Iowa. Mrs. Marshall, the former Rita McKenna was born August 17, 1917 to Frank and Alice (O'Rourke) McKenna at home in rural Otter Creek, Iowa. She graduated from Holy Rosary High School in LaMotte, Iowa. On May 11, 1937, Rita was united in marriage to Larry Marshall in St. Lawrence Catholic, Otter Creek. She was a homemaker and also owned and operated the Gamble Store in DeWitt for many years. Later they moved to a farm near Grand Mound, Iowa. Larry preceded Rita in death on March 18, 1979. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, and the Altar and Rosary Society and Guild. Rita loved to crochet, knit and play cards. Surviving are her children, Sister Barbara Marshall, SFCC of Des Moines, Iowa, Alan (Linda) Marshall of Cascade, Iowa, Eileen (David) Trost of Bellevue, Iowa, and Diane (David) Noll of LeClaire, Iowa; grandchildren, Pamela (Jim Darling) Marshall, Mike (Cathy) Marshall, Jody (Laurie) Martens, Penny (Scott Stefl) Martens, Kelly (Ryan) Salvador and Heather Noll; eight great-grandchldren and two great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Tubbs of Maquoketa, Iowa, and nieces and nephews. Preceding Rita in death in addition to her husband, were a son, Kenneth Marshall, a grandson, Tyler Noll, her parents, two sisters and five brothers. The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2011 with a rosary at 5:00 p.m.. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2011 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. The Rev. Paul Connolly will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Grand Mound. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Church or School. (Source: Schultz Funeral Home)
