Description	:	Rita V. Lempka, 89, of Sterling died at her home on Friday, December 5, 2014. She was born on August 9, 1925 at rural Steinauer, attended St. Anthony's Grade School and graduated from Steinauer High School in 1943. She married Edmund G. Lempka on September 9, 1948 at Steinauer. She was a homemaker on the family farm all of her life. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of St. Mary, NE and was a member and past officer of the Altar Society and had been a CCD teacher. She enjoyed gardening, baking and jigsaw puzzles. She was born on August 9, 1925 at rural Steinauer, attended St. Anthony's Grade School and graduated from Steinauer High School in 1943. She married Edmund G. Lempka on September 9, 1948 at Steinauer. She was a homemaker on the family farm all of her life. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of St. Mary, NE and was a member and past officer of the Altar Society and had been a CCD teacher. She enjoyed gardening, baking and jigsaw puzzles. Survivors include one son, Chris Lempka and wife Karen of St. Mary; three daughters, Karen Francis and husband Jim, Valerie Wittstruck and husband Ed and Rachel Lempka all of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Amy Agena, Katy Lempka and Bob Francis and wife Allison; one great-granddaughter, Nora Bean Francis; two sisters-in-law, Irene Pella and Mildred Pella both of Tecumseh and brother-in-law, August Olberding of Baileyville, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aldrich and Barbara Glynn Kalin; her husband Edmund, who died November 8, 2006; three sisters, Reva Olberding, Mary Goracke and Barb Gattermeyer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 8, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church of St. Mary, NE with Father Thomas Dunavan officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery of St. Mary. A Scriptural Rosary service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, December 7, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church of St. Mary. A memorial has been established to the family's choice. The body will lie in state at the Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling from 4:00 P.M. Saturday until 1:00 P.M. Sunday and at the church one hour preceding the services on Monday. Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling in charge of arrangements.
