Description	:	Rob Roy Prouty, passed away Monday morning, March 31, 2014, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, in Yankton, South Dakota. Rob was born on March 8, 1930, to Harry S. Prouty and Lorena Herrell in Spencer, Nebraska. Rob grew up on the family farm southeast of Spencer, Nebraska and attended a nearby country school. He graduated from Spencer (NE.) High School with the Class of 1947 and enlisted in the Army in June as a member of the medical corp. He was called up again as a reserve and served his country until his final discharge in 1950. Prouty and Lorena Herrell in Spencer, Nebraska. Rob grew up on the family farm southeast of Spencer, Nebraska and attended a nearby country school. He graduated from Spencer (NE.) High School with the Class of 1947 and enlisted in the Army in June as a member of the medical corp. He was called up again as a reserve and served his country until his final discharge in 1950. Rob was united in marriage to Lavonne Riley on February 18, 1952. They were blessed with two children; Thomas in 1957, and Cindy in 1963. In 1952, Rob went to work for Earley Oil, O'Neill, Nebraska. In 1955, Rob started working part time for Biglin's Mortuary, O'Neill, Nebraska. He joined the O'Neill (NE.) Police Force in 1960 and continued until 1969 when he became a fire instructor for the Nebraska Department of Education. He enjoyed his classes and time with firemen all over the state until his retirement in 1995. During his retirement, he spent many enjoyable hours with good friends on the golf course. He also loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Rob was a member of Faith Community Church, O'Neill, Nebraska, 40 year member of the O'Neill (NE.) Fire Department, Garfield Masonic Lodge #95 A.F. & A.M., and the Yankton (S.D.) Scottish Rite. He earned the honor of being a 33rd Degree Mason. Rob was also a member of The O'Neill (NE.) American Legion Simonson Post 93. Rob was preceded in death by; parents; wife,Lavonne Larae Prouty; brothers and their wives; Clyde and Vernice, Ray and Ruth and Ed and Rose Prouty and brother in law, Dave Strickler. Funeral services for Rob Roy Prouty, were 10:30 AM, Friday, April 4, 2014, at Faith Community Church, O'Neill, Nebraska. Flag presentation will be conducted by O'Neill (NE.) American Legion Simonson Post 93. Inturment was in the O'Neill Cemetery, O'Neill, Nebraska.
