Description	:	Robbie Pauline Simpson was born to Chester and Ora Berryhill on June 12, 1927, and she passed away on January 15, 2016. She was born in Holtville, California, and lived there for six months before returning to her family’s home state of Missouri. Her parent moved to Old Etna when Pauline was 5 years old. Read More	Robbie Pauline Simpson was born to Chester and Ora Berryhill on June 12, 1927, and she passed away on January 15, 2016. She was born in Holtville, California, and lived there for six months before returning to her family’s home state of Missouri. Her parent moved to Old Etna when Pauline was 5 years old. She attended Etna Elementary and Etna High Schools. She graduated as Valedictorian of her class in 1945. She worked at the Etna Sentinel after high school. Her closest girlfriends during her school years were Dolly Smith and Virginia Maine. Pauline loved Scott Valley and the few times she lived away, she missed it. In April on 1945, Clay Simpson met her at a dance, and they began dating. He lived on the Simpson Ranch with his parents and three brothers. He attended Fort Jones Schools. They dated that summer and fall. They got engaged at Thanksgiving of 1945 and married on August 19, 1946. Clay was in the Army for a short time, and then attended San Jose State for a short time. Pauline talked Clay into going back to Scott Valley after a few months. They returned to the Simpson Ranch and their first daughter, Karen, was born on May 30, 1949. They spent a few years in Grenada and Yreka, but Pauline always wanted to return to Scott Valley. In 1960, Pauline became very ill with Addison’s disease. She became a Christian that year, bargaining with God – if He let her raise her daughters, she would serve Him the rest of her life. As girls left for college, Clay talked Pauline into moving to Nampa, Idaho. They enjoyed 4 years of family and farming and then returned to Scott Valley. Pauline liked to bake and care for her flower beds. She had a reputation for making delicious pies. They attended Southern Baptist Church in Yreka for many years where they made many close friends. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Karen Hayden of Cambridge, Idaho. She is survived by her 3 brothers, her daughter and son-in-law; her son-in-law of Idaho; and she also leaves behind her husband of 69 years,six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A private family graveside will be held later at Etna Cemetery.
