The services will be held at The Wood Mortuary in Greer, followed by burial at Graceland East Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at The Wood Mortuary from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on Thursday. Mr. DeShields, 84, husband of the late Marion DeShields, of 1484 Henderson Gap Road, died Jan. 2, 2006, at Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson. Mr. DeShields, 84, husband of the late Marion DeShields, of 1484 Henderson Gap Road, died Jan. 2, 2006, at Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson. A lifelong resident of Greer, he was the son of the late Miles A. and Lucy Hudson DeShields. He was the owner of Robert DeShields Grading and a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. He was a Navy veteran and served in World War II. A 25-year member of Bailey Masonic Lodge and a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple, one of his greatest joys was to help crippled children. He loved to "run" his tractor and wheeling and dealing, and he was especially proud when he got a good deal. He is survived by a son, Barry Foster of Pollock Pines, Calif.; two daughters, Pandra Lemrow of Gilbert, S.C., and LaDon Allen of Greer, S.C.; and a brother, Garvin DeShields of Greer. Seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and lots of friends lovingly called him "Papa." The family wishes to express their gratitude to Richard M. Campbell Veterans' Nursing Home and to the Hospice of the Upstate. The family will be at the home.
