Description	:	Note: there is no headstone, and his parents are not yet proven. Robert married first Betsey J. Dorr, daughter of Henry. They had two children Eugene and Emma, who both died young. They are both buried in Manchester, NH, in the family plot with their mother. On 16 Sep 1862 Robert, a mason, mustered into service with the 1st Company Massachusetts Sharpshooters, being credited to the quota of Cambridge, MA. He was 35 years old according to his enlistment papers. Robert was described as being 5 feet, 8 and 1/4 inches tall, with blue eyes, light hair and a fair complexion. On 9 Aug 1863, he was absent sick from his unit and admitted to U. S. General Hospital, Armory Square, Washington DC. On 15 Sep 1864 Robert ended military service with the 1st Massachusetts Sharpshooters at Petersberg, Virginia, by mustering out. Some time after the war, Robert married second Margaret J. Hannon. They was one child, Eugene, who died at birth in 1869 and is believed to be theirs. He applied for a veteran's pension on 18 Dec 1879, and received certificate number 315918. He and Margaret were enumerated in the 1880 US Federal census on 28 Jun 1880 at Braintree, MA. On 13 Jul 1883 his wife, Margaret, died at Braintree, MA. On 18 Oct 1886, Robert was admitted at National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, Togus, MA. He died on 10 May 1889 at Braintree, MA, of consumption. He was 62 years old. He was buried in May 1889 at Valley Cemetery, Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, plot 131, with his first wife and two children.
