The deceased had been confined to his bed but ten days. Father Alexander united with the Brethren church about two years since, from which time he had been a faithful and acceptable member. For a number of years he had been identified with the Baptist society. For many years he has been a resident of this community, and for one so advanced in years he enjoyed remarkably good health most of the time during his latter years. He was the father of several children now grown, and residents of this place, save one, Mrs. J. W. Lane, residing at Peru. These, with his aged widow, with relatives and friends are left to mourn, but with hopes of happy reunion in "the sweet by and by." The funeral took place from the residence at 2 o'clock, p.m., Monday, services conducted by Rev. Bell, and the remains interred in the old cemetery. News Journal North Manchester January 13, 1881
