Description	:	Robert Alvin Walker, 93, Mohall, died Sunday, April 9, 2017, at his home. He was born January 4, 1924, in Park Rapids, MN, to Dave and Hazel (Baker) Walker. At a young age, Bob and his family relocated to Eden Valley Township, Renville County, where he was reared and attended school. He often shared many fond memories of his years at Eden Valley School. In 1948, he began his career with... Read More	Robert Alvin Walker, 93, Mohall, died Sunday, April 9, 2017, at his home. He was born January 4, 1924, in Park Rapids, MN, to Dave and Hazel (Baker) Walker. At a young age, Bob and his family relocated to Eden Valley Township, Renville County, where he was reared and attended school. He often shared many fond memories of his years at Eden Valley School. On February 21, 1950, Bob married Maxine Mayer in Kenmare, and they moved to Mohall, where they raised nine children. Bob started working at a very young age for area farmers. In 1948, he began his career with the North Dakota State Highway Department, where he served as equipment operator and supervisor for 38 years. During his career with the Highway Department, Bob also helped build the Renville County Fair Grounds race track and the Mohall Public School football field. In the summer months, Bob, Maxine, their children and grandchildren also erected grain bins for many local farmers. Bob retired from the Highway Department in April of 1986, when he again began working for local area farmers. Bob also spent several summers working for the Renville County Weed Board. Bob enjoyed many hobbies, including woodworking, cooking, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, fishing and watching all sports, especially those that his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were playing in. Bob was a huge family man who loved spending time with his children and all family members, dedicating many weekends and evenings to help anyone who asked with anything they needed. He always claimed he could “fix anything but a maiden’s broken heart,” and he could. He was always thankful for the strong relationships he formed with three half-brothers he didn't meet until later in life. Bob is survived by his loving children, Joan (William) Solometo, Mohall; Sandy (Lee) Moody, Dallas, TX; Cheryl (Gary) Burckhard, Minot; David (Cryslynn) Walker, Rugby; Sally (Paul) Daeley, Sherwood; Nancy (Terry) Johnson, Lansford; Robert (Connie) Walker, Sherwood; Luci (David) Steeves, Sherwood; Alan Walker, Mohall; and unofficially-adopted foreign exchange student who resided with the family for two years, Arturo Gomez Tagle, Mexico City, MX; grandchildren include: Carri Helwig and Bill Solometo; Tonya Bishop, Sonya Diaz, Brian Bryant, and Mark and Mike Moody; Chad and Jamison Burckhard and Rhonda Schell; Ryan Walker; Logan and Roxanne Daeley; Erin and Amy Johnson and Tara Aarhus; Zachary and Brendan Walker; and Brock, Taylor, Luke and Lauren Steeves; 24 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Leona Schiffman, Kirkland, WA; Betty Mattern, Prineville, OR; Marlys Hoffman, New Hope, MN; George Walker, Alliance, NE; Kenny Walker, Salem, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews.
