Description	:	Bob was born in 1939 in Guthrie County, Iowa to Louisa Wilhelmina Rae Chitty and James Cornelius Chitty, who was known as Jim. He served in the US Navy from August 31, 1960 to September 28, 1964. He was assigned to the USS Albany CA-123, a cruiser which was on patrol in the Mediterranean Sea during most of this time. On Valentine's Day in 1971, he married Carol Jean Hill, daughter of Marilyn June Hay Hill and Raymond Leslie Hill. FOOTNOTES The previous caretaker of this memorial made a notation about Bob having been a veteran of the Korean War. I don't think Bob ever served in Korea. His service files record him in the US Navy from 1960-1964. He served on the USS Albany.
