Description	:	Robert (Bob) August Lahr, age 91, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of Lester and Lizetta (Renning) Lahr on May 12, 1926, in Stewartville, Minnesota. Bob moved to Wisconsin as a child and then later moved to Iowa. He graduated from Butler Center School in the 8th grade. On December 5, 1944, Bob enter the infantry at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Read More	Robert (Bob) August Lahr, age 91, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of Lester and Lizetta (Renning) Lahr on May 12, 1926, in Stewartville, Minnesota. Bob moved to Wisconsin as a child and then later moved to Iowa. He graduated from Butler Center School in the 8th grade. On December 5, 1944, Bob enter the infantry at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. He attended camps at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas; Camp Fannin in Texas and Fort George Meade in Maryland. Bob served with the 47th Cavalry in Germany during World War II. He was awarded the Victory and Good Conduct Medals and the ETO Ribbon. Bob was discharged August 26, 1946, at Fort Sheridan in Illinois. On February 23, 1951, Bob was united in marriage with Marlys (Jurgens) Buss in Shell Rock, Iowa. The couple made their home for the majority of marriage in Shell Rock, and in 1984, they moved to Clarksville. Bob worked at different jobs with several skills. He was a farmhand, worked at Rath Packing, John Deere’s, owned a gas station in Shell Rock, worked as an electrician at the hardware store and then retired from Waterloo Industries in 1989 after 22 years. He then went on to working road construction until the age of 85. Robert enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. He loved to watch wrestling on TV. He also enjoyed making wood crafts for his family, the local grocery and also to sell at flea markets. Bob died Saturday, August 19, 2017, at his home in Clarksville, from natural causes. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years in 2001, Marlys; his parents; two sisters, Evelyn Kluiter and Marion Schmitz; one brother, James Lahr; one son, Darrell Buss; one son-in-law, Mark Becking and one great-grandson, Abel Frazer. Bob is survived by: daughter-in-law, Ardith Buss of Allison, Iowa; son, Roger (Marjorie) Lahr of Clarksville; son, Charles (Verla) Lahr of Greene, Iowa; daughter, Barbara (Dean) Lane of Greene, daughter, Janet (Randy) Luchtenburg of Aplington, Iowa, and daughter, Elaine Whiting of Clarksville; sister, Dorann Hanson of Cassville Missouri; grandchildren, Timothy Buss, Traci (Matt) Gallmeyer, Richard Lahr, Brian (Bree) Lahr, Jason Lahr, Joseph Lahr, Alaina Lahr, Jessica Lane (Keith Harms), Michael (Valerie) Lane, Jennifer (Jerry) Drehobl, Jason Luchtenburg, Alisha (Drew) Frazer, Elona Gorman, Kayla (Tanner) Schwichtenberg, Breanna (Dustin) Lenz; step-grandchild, Danielle Becking (Will); great grandchildren, Crystal Wordes, Tabitha (Damien) Mennen, Cassondra (Charlie) Smith, McCoy Buss, Andrew Gallmeyer (Alexis Barnes), Ashley (Daniel) Weiss, Levi Gallmeyer, Alexander Lahr, Shaylon Lahr, Brittany Lahr, Brinn Lahr, Braxton Lahr, Seth Lane, Brianna Roe, Alexis MacKay, Kaitlynn Lane, Colton Chisholm, Thomas Dominy, Sarah Dominy, Cody Drehobl, Cade Drebohl, Adelyn Frazer, Christian Frazer, Noah Frazer, Jace Gorman, Jeremiah Gorman, Ethan Taylor, Emilee Taylor, Acelynn Schwichtenberg, Dezirae Lenz; step great-grandchildren, Alexis Becking, Issiah Becking, Isabelle Becking, Kendra Pickard; great great-grandchildren, Kameron MacKae, Mallory Wordes, Jacob Wordes, Annalisha Smith, Braydon Smith, Conner Weiss, Jordyn Weiss, Claire Gallmeyer, and many nieces and nephews.
