He was employed as a truck driver for Burlington Truck Lines for 29 years, retiring in 1975, and was a member of First Lutheran Church and Masonic Lodge No. 269. He is survived by his wife; a son, Robert Jr. of Geneva, Ill.; a sister, Kathryn Beggs of Burkburnett, Texas anf two brothers, Wayne of Douds and Glen of Keosauqua. He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Stanley. The service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Ottumwa, the Rev. Robert Lehman officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa. Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. today at the funeral chapel. The family will be at the funeral chapel from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be Mike Lagergren, George Hendricks, Gary Lagerstrom, Charles Maxwell, LaVone Bitner and Paul Heckenberg. Memorials may be made to his church.
