Read More	Obituary of Robert Banks Robert Banks died at his home in Sioux township, Plymouth county, Iowa, Saturday evening, October 19, 1935, of pneumonia. He had been ill less than three days and his death came as a surprise to the family as well as the neighbors and friends. Robert Andrew Banks was born May 1, 1849, at Beaver Meadow Mines, Pennsylvania. He was the son of James and Mary Banks, who had recently emigrated to the United States from the County of Durhin, England. When he was three years of age his parents moved from Pennsylvania and settled in Allunmkee county, Iowa, where Robert grew to manhood. He attended the schools of Allamakee county and finished the Iowa State University with the class of 1870. He often recalled that there were but three buildings at the university when he was there and not many students, and was able to follow the fortunes of most of them as long as they lived. In 1889 he came to Sioux City, Iowa, and a little later bought a farm in Sioux township, Plymouth county, Iowa, Where, with his youngest brother, Joseph Banks, he engaged in farming, making his home with his brother, Joseph, until the letter's death sixteen years ago, after Which he continued to make his home with his brother's family, being a resident of Sioux township for nearly forty-four years. He was a very quiet man, always a great reader, and took a keen interest in all civic and political affairs. He leaves to mourn his loss two brothers and one sister, namely: William Banks, of Tacoma, Wash., and George Banks, of Lavina, Mont., and Mrs. Mary Dow, of Hollister, Calif., and many nieces and nephews. The funeral, which was held from the family home on Tuesday of last week, was largely attended, and interment made in Logan Park cemetery, Sioux City. Six nephews acted as pallbearers.
