Description	:	Robert Blankartz was a native of McCook County, SD, having been born on the Blankartz homestead two and half miles northeast of Salem, SD on January 10, 1988. He grew to manhood here and was successful in his farm operations his "Ideal Stock Farm" being one of the best in this section of the state. On November 15, 1910 he was united in marriage to Miss Ida R. Miller at Montrose, SD. To their union four children were born, three of whom survive him, Lurene, age 13, Evelyn, age 9, and Donald, who will be a year old in February. On November 15, 1910 he was united in marriage to Miss Ida R. Miller at Montrose, SD. To their union four children were born, three of whom survive him, Lurene, age 13, Evelyn, age 9, and Donald, who will be a year old in February. Mr. Blankartz was taken ill Christmas night with what developed into an infection of the gall bladder and was removed from his home to St. Joseph's hospital at Mitchell, SD Wednesday, December 29, 1926, where he passed away at 10 p.m. on January 5, 1927. The remains were brought to his home and funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic church Saturday morning, January 8, 1926, interment being made in that congregation's cemetery. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends were present at his obsequies to pay their respect to the memory of an esteemed citizen, a kind and loving husband, father and son, and a warm friend who "wore well" with all who knew him. Deceased leaves to mourn his loss his wife and three children; his mother, Mrs. A. W. Blankartz, four brothers, August, Fred, William and Leonard, and five sisters, Mrs. L.D. Sweet, Oakland, California; Mrs. E. M. Kelley, Mrs. Nora Schmidt, Mrs. T. L. Kelley, of Salem, SD; and Mrs. Florence Sengir, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
