Description	:	Robert “Bob” Fricke, 86, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Marshalltown, passed away under the care of Hospice on May 8th. Due to the Covid 19 virus, a memorial service for Bob will be held at the LaMoille Congregational Church at a later date. Read More	Robert “Bob” Fricke, 86, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Marshalltown, passed away under the care of Hospice on May 8th. Bob was born May 13, 1933, to Christian and Gertrude (Adams) Fricke, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He lived and went to school at State Center until the family to moved to Rhodes. At age 10, the family moved West of Marshalltown, where he attended country school Timbercreek #10. He later transferred to the LaMoille Consolidated school graduating in 1950. On June 26, 1951, he was united in marriage to Doris Lorraine Plummer at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union were born five children. Bob and Doris resided with her parents until 1955, when they moved southwest of Marshalltown, and Bob farmed until moving back to the Plummer home in the 1970’s. While continuing to farm, Bob worked at Carpet Mart and later formed Fricke Flooring Service, with his son, Gary. In 1979 Bob, Doris, Gary and Becky opened Melbourne Home Furnishings in Melbourne, Iowa. Doris passed away in 1980. In July 1981, Bob married Shar Welch, of Des Moines and they continued to make their home on the acreage southwest of Marshalltown. In 1985, he became an independent crop adjuster traveling throughout the Midwest. He retired in 1995 and later worked as a cashier for Kwik Star and Wal-Mart, both in Marshalltown and Arizona. Bob was very proud of his family and loved family gatherings. He loved to fish and he and Doris spent many summers with their family fishing in the Northern lakes of Minnesota. Bob also liked to travel and he and Shar enjoyed cruises to the Caribbean, Hawaii and Alaska. When Bob’s health declined in 2005, they moved to Mesa, AZ and bought a home in a retirement park. He enjoyed all of the park’s activities and especially enjoyed visiting and playing cards with all the friends he made there. Bob loved life, and those who knew him will remember him for his sense of humor and story-telling. He had many great limericks he quoted from memory….some questionable…which he said he learned from Myron Plummer, his father-in-law. He was a member of the LaMoille Congregational Church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, a Trustee and Deacon and Chairman of the church board during his membership. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Albion, Iowa. Bob is survived by his wife, Shar; sons Gary (Becky) and Daryl (Marcia) and daughter Carol (Todd) Horn, of Melbourne, daughters Lorraine (David) Waltemeyer, of Hamilton, Missouri and daughter Karen (David) Pfantz, of State Center. Also 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris; his parents, and siblings: Bill Fricke, Marlene Miller, Marilee Richter and Dorothy Hegdahl.
