Robert B. Matchett, 21, who died at Denver April 23. Rev. John H. Beckmann conducted the services. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery where military honors were accorded the deceased. Cpl. Matchett was born at Loretto, Neb., March 1, 1931. He grew to manhood in Boone county and attended the Albion schools. Matchett was born at Loretto, Neb., March 1, 1931. He grew to manhood in Boone county and attended the Albion schools. In August, 1950, he entered the armed forces where he was a member of Company 511 R.C.T., of the 11th Airborne Division. Robert received his basic training at Fort Ord, Cal. In December, 1950, he was transferred to Fort Campbell, Ky., where his paratrooper group received their jump training. Later he was sent to Fort Benning, Ga., for advanced and specialized work. Last summer he was injured in a parachute jump and was hospitalized at Fort Campbell. On December 13, he was moved to Fitzsimmons army hospital at Denver. There he died April 23. Surviving are his wife, the former Charlotte Olson, of St. Edward, who he married Sept. 20, 1951; his father, Merle Matchett; his foster mother, Mrs. Velma Matchett; brothers and sisters, Louise, Francis, Dorothy, Leanna, Freddie, Benny, and Danny. His mother, one brother, Bonnie (sic), and one sister, Betty Lou, preceded him in death.
