Constance Sidebottom officiating. Masonic rites were conducted by the Ponemah Lodge. Mr. Johnson died of natural causes Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1993 at Clark Fork Valley Hospital in Plains. Known to his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends as "Conco," he was a lifetime Plains resident. He was born March 8, 1913, to Edwin and Louise Johnson in the house where he and his wife of 59 years, Dorothy, resided. He was educated in the Plains public schools and attended the University of Montana, where he was a member of the Signma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He and Dorothy Powers were married Sept. 8, 1934 at Billings. They made their home in Plains. Mr. Johnson operated the Calso Service Station and California Company bulk plant at Plains fro 1934 to 1942. After spending 2 1/2 years during World War II working at the Todd Ship Repair Yards in Seattle, he returned to Plains in 1945 and worked at the First National Bank of Plains. He retired as bank president in 1979. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and people. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Plains, past and president of the Plains-Paradise Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Plains Lions Club, past master of Ponemah Lodge No. 63 A.F. & A.M., past worthy patron of Ideal Chapter No. 50 Order of the Eastern Star and past president of the Bankers Group. He was a volunteer fireman, Red Cross instructor, hunter safety instructor, corordiator of the Salvation Army in the Plains area, and was quick to volunteer with ideas, time and money for whatever civic project that needed to be done. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, at the family home in Plains; three daughters, Virginia Rae Proctor and her husband, Bob, Missoula; Gayle Ruguleiski, Plains, and her husband, Don, Spokane, Wash.; and Sharon "Petie" Hashisaki, Plains, and her former husband Mike Hashisaki, Plains; a brother and sister-in-law, BIll and Kathryn Johnson, Plains; a niece, Katie Lou Rosenow and husband David, Plains; a nephew, Bob Schneider, Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren residing in Montana, California, Florida and Texas; 15 great-grandchildren and Several cousins in Minnesota. The family suggested memorials to the Plains Library Memorial Fund, United Methodist Church of Plains, or Quick Response Extrication Fund. Coffelt-Bunch Funeral Service of Plains was in charge of arrangements.
