Mr. Brookins who was born and reared in this vicinity, was twice married. His first wife and a daughter, Mrs. Fred Wade, preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Boggess, one sister, Mrs. Jane C. Witham of Chauncey, and two brothers, O. M. Brookins, Chauncey, and Milton Brookins, Millfield. A brother, Burge Brookins died more than a year ago. Friends may call at the Witham home at any time, it is announced. Athens Messenger, April 20, 1932 Nye Cemetery: Rites at Church CHAUNCEY - April 22 - Funeral services for Robert Brookins, aged 86, who died Tuesday in the home of his daughter Mrs. Sina Boggess in Louisville, Ky., were held Thursday from Chauncey Church of Christ conducted by Rev. G. B. Courtney, Chauncey. Pallbearers were: G. W. Nye, Floyd Nye, Carl Gardner, Charles Sweeney, Sr., Paul Porter and Ervin Karns. Mr. Brookins is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Boggess at whose home he died and a daughter in a distant state. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Jane Witham, Chauncey and two brothers, O. M. Brookins, Chauncey and J. M. Brookins, Millfield. Athens Messenger, April 22, 1932 Robert was married twice. First to Rebecca Davis with whom he had 3 children: Maud Brookins 1872-1872, Lucina Celestia Brookins (Boggess) 1873-1957 and Lena Gertrude Brookins (Wade) 1875-1911. He then married Cora Belle Selby, they were later divorced. They had one child, Dona Brookins 1892-1964.
