Robert served his country in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. He was united in marriage to Barbara Rae Walters on September 28, 1951. Robert worked as a farm hand and retired as a supervisor for Fisher Controls after 32 years of service. He enjoyed playing baseball, post-high school, pitching for the Marshalltown Ansons. Robert was a long time member of the Bethany United Methodist Church where he served as a lay speaker, was a youth leader with his wife and a Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. He and Barbara were active in the Texas Connection Music Ministry and the Snow Birds Supper Club. Robert served as a volunteer fireman for the Albion Fire Department for many years.
