Memorials may be given to the Robert Callanan Memorial Fund for the family to give to Hospice of North Iowa, Zion Lutheran Church, The V.F.W. and the Boy Scouts Troop # 75. Bob was born Oct. 29, 1920 in Ventura, Iowa, the son of Everett L. and Florence A. (Avise) Callanan. He attended schools in Ventura and Clear Lake, graduating from Clear Lake High School in 1938 and Hamilton Business College in 1939. Bob married Evelyn M. Kittleson Oct. 27, 1940 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City. He started working for Interstate Power before entering the Army. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army on Aug. 13, 1943 and was Honorably Discharged in 1946. He served in WWII. Following the service Bob came back to Clear Lake and went back to work for Interstate Power. He retired in 1982 after working for them for 43 years. Bob was active in the Gas and Electric Credit Union for over 30 years and also was league director for three years. He was involved with the Boy Scouts for 38 years and was honored with the District Merit's highest award and also the Silver Beaver Council Award. Bob was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Hamilton Business College. Bob enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, watching sports on T.V., camping and fishing. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, the Masonic Benevolence Lodge No. 145AF&AM, Mason City and the Clear Lake V.F.W. Bob is survived by his wife, (names ommitted for privacy). Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Raymond. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
